Policeman shoots woman to death, injures husband in Lagos

As CP queries DPO, orders arrest of team members; Killer cop charged for murder LAGOS—A police corporal attached to Isheri-Oshun Division in Lagos, Wednesday night, fired a shot at a moving tricycle along Isheri/ Ijegun road, killing the wife of the operator, Idongesit Ekpo, on the spot. Police arrest Indian man in Lagos over visa scam

A Dubai-based Indian man, Mohammed Shazul, has been arrested by the Nigerian police for procuring a Dubai visa using the name of his former business partner,  Ayodotun Babalola. Ayodotun (pictured above) had petitioned the Nigerian police after he discovered that his former business partner who he fell out with after he demanded for 49% share of the company which they ran together, had used his name to obtain a Dubai visa, thereby preventing him to apply for a visa.

Nigerian refugees in 'atrocious' situation in Niger: UN

Thousands of Nigerian refugees who fled to southeast Niger to escape the Islamist group Boko Haram are in an "atrocious" situation, the United Nations says. "There is a psychosis among the people who were expelled from their villages, their homes by Boko Haram. It's an atrocious situation." Toby Lanzer, UN regional humanitarian coordinator for the Sahel, told AFP on Wednesday during a visit to Assaga, one of the largest Nigerian refugee camps in southeast Niger.

Crane accident: Families of Nigerian victims to get N70m each

Families of the six Nigerian pilgrims who lost their lives in the Friday September 11th crane accident at the Grand Mosque in the Saudi Arabian city of Mecca are to receive N70m each as compensation from the Saudi Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. The king had ordered that families of each of the 111 people who lost their lives in the accident be paid compensation of (SR1,000,000) one million Saudi Riyals which is N70 million in Naira equivalent. Six Nigerian pilgrims including one pilgrim from Kaduna and five others from Gombe state died in the unfortunate incident.

14yr old boy arrested by police in Texas after his homemade clock was mistaken for a bomb

There is a strong and angry reaction to this on social media with the hashtag #IStandwithAhmed. 14 year old Ahmed Mohamed was arrested after he'd made a clock at home and brought it into MacArthur High School in Irving to show his engineering teacher who congratulated him. Another teacher who heard it's beeping sound during class, saw it and believed it looked like a bomb, alerted school authorities who called the police.

End of Boko Haram is imminent - DHQ
