Over 90,000 hit by Somalia floods

  Over 90,000 people in war-torn southern Somalia have been hit by weeks of severe flooding, almost half of them forced from their homes, the United Nations has warned. “More than 90,000 people have been affected since October 23 and an estimated 42,000 people displaced as a result of the flash floods and river flooding,” the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said.

OAU lecturer dies in his office

A lecturer at the Obafemi Awolowo University Prof. Solomon Ogunniyi, reportedly passed away in his office yesterday Thursday November 5th. The professor of medicine and a former provost of the college of health sciences, was said to have passed out in his office and no one noticed for a long time. It was when people noticed he'd been in his office for a while without exiting that they went in to check on him and found his lifeless body slumped in his chair. Cause of death is not immediately known but no foul play is suspected.

5 in-traffic armed robbers arrested in Lagos

The Lagos state police Rapid Response Squad have arrested five in-traffic robbers who specialized in snatching handsets and bags from unsuspecting members of public in traffic. The suspects identified as Ajala Lateef 16, Salami Sodiq, 15, Raji Kazeem, 19, Bashiru Adeyemi, 19, and Ikechukwu Ukueje, 15, were arrested on Wednesday October 28th after they had successfully robbed their victim of her belongings.

Dog finds an abandoned baby and takes it to safety

Pictures of victims of the Russian plane crash in Egypt

Major events so far: The plane was mainly carrying Russian tourists.  so far   150 bodies have been found over a 3 mile radius. A c riminal investigation has now been launched against the airline. 2 black boxes have been recovered. According to Mirror Online, an ISIS group has claimed it shot down the Russian plane, despite early indications it was a technical problem that caused the disaster and there was n o survivors' in the crash. Meet Tanzania's first female Vice President

Samia Suluhu Hassan, 55, was announced Vice President of Tanzania in the 2015 General Elections, alongside Tanzania's ruling party candidate John Magufuli. Suluhu is married to Hafidh Ameir and they have four children. The National Electoral Commission announced on Thursday, October 29, that Magufuli won the presidential election after the opposition challenged the tallying process and demanded a recount.
