New Ooni of Ife to be crowned in 21 days

Ooni
The newly appointed Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi will be crowned in 21 days.
One of the Ife kingmakers, who declined to be named as he was not authorised to speak said having been unanimously voted as the new monarch and officially announced by government, the tradition of the land demands that the “40-year old king must be crowned without any  delay.”

Spokesman of the Lafogido family, one of the ruling houses that earlier went to court to challenge the kingmakers’ endorsement of the Giesi Ruling House to produce the new Ooni, Sooko Adeleke Adewoyin said they (the ruling house) would soon sit to discuss the new development, adding that their grouse was with the selection process, which he described as “faulty and fraudulent.”
Adewoyin said since government had accepted the kingmakers’ choice, they will not fight government.
While calling on the people of the ancient town to remain calm, Adewoyin remarked that the blood of an Ife man is not worth being shed over the choice of an Ooni.
